Inner Circle Magazine wishes to increase awareness and recognition of Australia’s Indigenous people and their cultures. We respect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and cultures, and recognise that Victoria, including Melbourne’s inner north, has a strong and proud Aboriginal history and complex ownership and land stewardship systems stretching back many thousands of years.
We wish to show respect for and acknowledge the Traditional Owners; their rich culture, their heritage and their continual relationship with the lands and waters, and we value and recognise the Traditional Owners’ customary place within Australian society today.
The following acknowledgement pays respect to the traditional custodians and ancestors of this country, and the continuation of their cultural, spiritual and religious practices.
We, at Inner Circle Magazine, would like to acknowledge that the land we meet on is the traditional lands for the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nations, and that we respect their spiritual relationship with their country. We would like to acknowledge the Wurundjeri people as the custodians of the Melbourne region, including Melbourne’s inner north, and recognise that their culture and heritage is still important to the Wurundjeri people today. We wish to pay respect to their Elders, both past and present, and further acknowledge the important role that Indigenous people continue to play within our communities.
