Bridges to Harmony Festival: Celebrating Diversity and Inclusion with Food, Music and More

March 30, 2017

On Friday 24th March, the Fitzroy Learning Network, in partnership with Yarra Libraries and Fitzroy Legal Service, hosted the Bridges to Harmony Festival in Condell Park, slap bang in the middle of Fitzroy.

The fun filled event was all about celebrating inclusivity and diversity in our community, and the family atmosphere of the day really demonstrated the best of our local community, brining together a packed out crowd who enjoyed great food, face painting, mural painting, and awesome and diverse music line-up that reminded me of some of the world music I have enjoyed at WOMAD Festival in years gone by.

The event was part of Cultural Diversity Week (18-26 March 2017) and the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (21 March, 2017) and featured an all-star line-up including TEK TEK EnsembleThe Public Opinion SixWindari1/6, Fadil Suna & Matt Stonehouse as well as the Fitzroy Clubhouse Rappers ( and MC & DJ Chris Gill of Northside Records.

Let’s hope we see more of these fun community events in the inner north, as we look to make further strides in embracing and celebrating true diversity and inclusion in our wonderful neighbourhood.
