The career of Melbourne-based band, The Constables is just taking off with the launch of their single this Friday at The Brunswick Hotel.
The alt-funk group has only been on the scene for a short time, but their blunt guitar and rock vocals with a touch of groove has been a recipe for success, with the band performing across the city.
“We love playing funk,” the trio says. “But we also quite enjoy playing the odd heavy riff.”
Drawing inspiration from a huge variety of artists from Harts to James Brown and INXS, the many flavours of The Constables has been a constant crowd pleaser with a stack of loyal supporters.
“We’ve all been playing in bands since we were about 14… It’s always been something we wanted to do. We’ve all grown up in the eastern suburbs, so naturally Melbourne is our home.”
Joining The Constables for their single launch will be a bunch of their friends. Just Breathe and Megan and the Vegans are both travelling down from Sydney to take to the stage, as well as local artist, Angelo Migyi will pull out his loop board for a set.
“Our aim is to make people feel good. From the feedback we’ve been receiving, we feel like it’s working. We have a little bit of touring coming up which we’re excited for. We just want to keep on pumping out music. After this release we’ll head straight back into the studio and build more songs.”
Don’t miss The Constables’ single release, this Friday March 9 at The Brunny. Kicking off at 8:30pm, with free entry and funky tracks playing all night, start your weekend off right.
