Local legend and lead singer of Collingwood’s own The Smith Street Band, Wil Wagner has announced a run of solo gigs ahead of his band’s latest release ‘Death To The Lads’. The single reached number 21 on Triple J’s Hottest 100, and the new album is due out early this year. The gigs include 3 very special hometown show’s at the historic Melba Spiegeltent on the 21st, 22nd and 23rd of February.
He has brought a stella list of friends to accompany him, including New York singer/songwriter Laura Stevenson, who recently collaborated in the studio with The Smith Street Band. Also Lucy Wilson, lead singer of The Sugarcanes & long time friend of the band, featured on Smith Street tracks like Belly In Your Bedroom and I Scare Myself Sometimes. Rounding off the bill will be Iona Cairns, leader of Shit Present and formerly Great Cynics, bands that have both played with Wil all over the world.
