Meet The Blues Radio Presenters & BluesQuiz – Leaps and Bounds

As part of Leaps and Bounds Music Festival, Melbourne Blues Appreciation Society – MBAS and Music Victoria have gathered some of Melbourne’s most experienced and passionate blues radio presenters to provide insights and tips to blues artists, managers and fans alike.
Hosted by one of the City of Yarra’s longest running blues venues, Rainbow Fitzroy, you will be invited to hear from the people behind the panel: Matt Frederick (PBS 106.7FM Melbourne), Max Crawdaddy (Triple R – 3RRR 102.7FM), Barry Maxwell (3NRG); and Frances Fairhall (88.3 Southern FM).
A fantastic opportunity to find out what helps get your music heard on radio, including how to find and approach a presenter and package your pitch to give it the best chance of airplay.
The panel will be followed by BluesQuiz, a one-off blues trivia challenge featuring two teams each made up of a prominent local blues artists, radio presenter and blues fan. The teams and their blues brains will be tested in an entertaining and fun live format before an audience.

Smith Street Dreaming is a project of the Smith Street Working Group. The Working Group strives to build better relationships between people who live, work and/or visit Smith Street by fostering understanding, respect and peace for everyone. Members include: Neighbourhood Justice Centre, Yarra City Council, Victoria Police, the Salvation Army, Co-Health, Regional Aboriginal Justice Advisory Committee, Smith Street Business Association, Eastern Health, MAYSAR and Charcoal Lane.
Smith Street Dreaming 2017 celebrates the footprint of Koorie history in Collingwood & Fitzroy, featuring Frank Yamma, Emma Donovan, Yung Warriors, Indigenous Hip Hop Projects, Traditional Dancers Jindi Worabak and MC Shelley Ware (Marngrook Footy Show).
This project was developed by the Smith Street Working Group to celebrate the relationships between people who live, work and/or visit Smith Street and to foster understanding, respect and peace for everyone. In body percussion you use every part of your body to produce a wide variety of different sounds. Besides being able to produce amazing groovy beats with your own body. In this class we will learn the basic moves and sounds of body percussion, turning your bodies into an instrument! The class thats its roots from Northern African and the Middle Eastern music that is blended into his unique style of drumming. Strong passion for rhythm and drumming has been experienced by many students through drumming and body percussion workshops in Australia and overseas.
