Reconciliation on the Rooftop
Yarra Libraries (Bargoonga Nganjin), Fitzroy / 12pm – 2pm
Reconciliation Week is being captured at Bargoonga Nganjin, who are partnering up with Aboriginal Housing Victoria and SNAICC-National Voice for our Children to avoid keeping history a mystery. A Welcome to Country, Traditional dancers, a Keynote speaker addressing the theme Don’t Keep History a Mystery, as well as speeches from the CEOs of Aboriginal Housing Victoria and the SNAICC will be honouring this event. Light refreshments and momento green screen photos are also included. Bookings are essential.

New Exhibitions at Brunswick Street Gallery
Brunswick Street Gallery, Fitzroy / 10am – 6pm
From the 25th of May, a number of solo and group exhibitions are opening at Brunswick Street Gallery. Extracts by Ali Stoner and Structure by Zory McGrath are included in the solo exhibitions. As for the group exhibitions; Australasia Now. and Emerge: Photographic Edition both of which are run by a number of talented local and non-local artists. Open your mind and let the inspiration light up your eyes. Running until 10th of June 2018.

Autumn Contortion Classes with Jacinta Rohan
Blue Studios, Fitzroy / 10am – 1pm
For those who’ve always wanted to be able to bend and twist their bodies to gain extreme flexibility and improve strength in a fun and safe environment. In this class you’ll be taught through a series of cardio warm-ups, partner stretching/massage, front and back bending contortion tricks, active leg flex condition, super splits, handstands and more. This term focuses on contortion choreography and flexy styled dance/movement. All levels are welcome to stretch with one of Australia’s top contortionists, Jacinta Rohan.

Persa House Party

Celebrate the end of uni semester by going out and having a boogie! Our favourite local bar if you’re looking for a dance to the songs you know and can let loose to. DJs will be spinning the hottest party anthems from the noughts to now, so prepare your lungs to be belting out the songs you’ve grown up with and continue to love today. $7 everything drinks, including pints, house wine, basic, sparkling and Jager Bombs. For a rowdy night, do try one of the Persa Party Punch buckets for only $15. Prepare for the long fun night ahead!

Cult Party: Early Noughties Trash Month
Studio B, Brunswick / 6:30pm – 7:30pm
What better tunes to get down to than the noughties? Cult Party is the dance class with a difference, this month dancing to your favourite tunes and guiltiest pleasures (think Pussycat Dolls, N*Sync, Xtina and Gwen Stefani). Each week a different dance will be taught in a fun, beginner-friendly class environment. Plus, you can get a discount at DADDY BAR for grooving out. Don’t feel intimidated; the studio is dimly lit and decked out with twinkling fairy lights so you don’t have to feel like the whole world is watching you. Monthly VIP passes available or come casually; dress ups welcome.

The Evelyn Market

The stalls are lined up and packed again with vintage second-hand clothing and accessories from emerging local designers. Welcoming back The Evelyn Market, running the first Saturday of every month, this is a market aiming to encourage the community to participate in sustainable fashion practices. Buy and sell your second-hand and locally produced goods to someone who is willing to value them. $10 Bloody Mary drink specials are also at the bar. Pick up your next flea market goodie here!

Lehmann B. Smith at The Tote Front Bar Residency Free Shows
The Tote, Collingwood / 5pm – 8:30pm
For four free Sundays throughout June, Melbourne’s Lehmann B Smith will be taking over The Tote’s front bar in support of his latest album Poplar Music, out now through Bedroom Suck / Remote Control Records. A man of many musical talents, with hundreds of songs written to his name, the best of which are featured on the six diverse and critically acclaimed albums, Poplar Music is on it’s way to be a standout also. Jaala will also be making an appearance on stage.
