Unity: International Women’s Day Concert
Brunswick Town Hall, Brunswick / 7:30pm

A celebration of Women.

Kylie Auldist, Ajak Kwai, Chelsea Wilson, Emily Wurramara, Parvyn. Spoken word by Sahida Apsara and Janam Kaur. DJs MzRizk (DJ) and Whiskey Houston.

Brunswick Music Festival presents a special concert in honour of International Women’s Day, featuring an incredible line up of vocalists and spoken word artists including Kylie Auldist, Ajak Kwai, Emily Wurramara, Parvyn, Chelsea Wilson, Sahida Apsara and Janam Kaur.

Accompanied by a specially commissioned orchestra, led by composer/arranger and bassist Tamara Murphy this stunning show will light up Brunswick Town Hall in a moving celebration of unity, song and voice. Expect majestic orchestral arrangements and thought provoking lyrics as the vocalists delve deep into personal, political and powerful stories.

It’s taking place on Opening Night, so join the celebrations before and after the show at the BMF Brunswick Bitter Bar (Brunswick Town Hall Foyer) with tunes spun courtesy of our ever-impressive DJs Mz Rizk and Whiskey Houston.

Unity will be Auslan interpreted.

Pesticides Information Night
Friends of the Earth Co-op & Cafe, Collingwood /  7.00pm

This Thursday night, Friends of the Earth in Collingwood are hosting a special seminar discussing the issue of pesticides found in our food and waterways.

SPEAKERS: Fran Murrell (MADGE Australia Incorporated) + Anthony Amis (Friends of the Earth Australia)

Fran Murrell has done extensive research on problems associated with Glyphosate, the world’s most frequently used herbicide. Fran is one of the co-founders of MADGE “Mothers Are Demystifying Genetic Engineering”, a group formed in 2007 concerned about the genetic modification of food. Check out madge.org.au

Anthony Amis is a Land Use researcher with Friends of the Earth based in Melbourne. He has a twenty year interest in pesticides, particularly its impact on waterways and the environment. In 2016 Anthony produced a report which collated pesticide waterway pollution across Australia available at foe.org.au/pesticides2016report
