ART & GIG w/ Katie Gray and Yukumbabe

Come down to Old Bar for ‘BITTER-SWEET’, a multi-disciplinary solo exhibition by Melbourne based artist Katie Gray exploring the concepts of oppositions working in harmonious ways, the duel nature of existence and the transformative processes everyone experiences when adapting to vicissitudes in being.
Music for the night will be provided by Yukumbabe a Jazz influenced folk-pop experience. Yukumbabe creates a powerful atmosphere within each song. Weaving stories of witches, annoying blisters, stalkers, eternity, bad housemates, time sucking individuals and of course devastating romances to encase you in their enchanting universe.
Camoufleur – Named after the seminal Gastr Del Sol record, indie pop group Camoufleur tie together disparate strains of bossa nova, post punk and improvisational music.
Neeko – Melbourne based songstress Neeko compliments her honest approach to poetry with lush chords and floating melodies. Emphasised by a strong connection to rhythm Neeko invites you into her world as she observes relationships, spirituality, and people.

House of Vans Melbourne
Meat Market, North Melbourne / 12pm
House of Vans Melbourne is a two-day, pop up event held at The Meat Market, North Melbourne on Friday 10th & Saturday 11th November and is a showcase of Vans’ unique culture through multifaceted activations, including D.I.Y workshops, shoe personalization, curated musical performances, a group charity show dedicated to the Sk8-Hi, Street markets and Vans Skate and BMX team Demos.
The all-ages day sessions will kick off with the Vans skate community hosting workshops including learn to skate classes with Jesse Noonan of Rock N Slide Skateboarding, grip tape design workshops with Jimmy Roche and a Skate Photography and Videography workshop run by Andrew Mapstone to teach budding skate photographers how to refine their craft. The workshops will run over both Friday and Saturday with limited capacity: registration is essential.
Alongside the workshops House of Vans Melbourne will host the launch of the Beach Burrito Co.’s “Tic Taco: Kick” exhibition; a group charity show dedicated to the Sk8-Hi. Showcasing the work of local artists including Buttons, Lauren Webster, Sindy Sinn and many more with proceeds from sales going towards social enterprise Skate Aid.
In the evenings, House of Vans Melbourne will welcome the overage community to an open house where guests can skate the Vans Stoop Series street park and mini ramp alongside Vans Skate & BMX team riders. Guests will be able to enjoy beverages from Sailor Jerry’s, Gage Road Brewery and Little Green Cider, with food from Taco Truck.
Friday evening’s activities will be heating up with live performances by Melbourne songstress Ali Barter with support from punk-pop Sydney 4-piece Rackett, formidable emcee Birdz and alt-pop trio Bell City Square.
Joining Newcastle heavyweights Trophy Eyes on Saturday evening will be Brisbane punk 3-piece powerhouse Columbus, Riot Grrrl band The Second Sex and Melbourne floor stompers The Quarters.
Sneaker patch customisation will appear alongside street market activations including vinyl and band merchandise from Oh! Jean Records, barber cuts from Uppercut Deluxe, artist zine pop-up Print & Staple by Ha-Ven and skate and BMX hardware from Fast Times Skateboarding and Rampfest BMX.

Peel Street Festival

Peel Street Festival, presented by local favourites The Grace Darling Hotel, local business sponsors and the Collingwood community at large.
Held on the tree-shaded street of Peel Street in Collingwood with a line up featuring some of the best local music, food, community stalls, record fair, interactive kids park and much more, Peel Street Festival was designed to bring the community together. With profourmes by Archie Roach, Cash Savage and The Last Drinks, András, Uncle Jack Charles, Brooke Powers, Terry, Sophie Grophy, Archer Magazine in conversation: ‘Safe Spaces’, Collingwood, Neighbourhood House Presents: Music For Change, Girl Zone, Pillow Pro, NIGHTCLUB, The Faculty, Golden Helmet, DJ Manchild, Pjenné, Millú, Nite Fleit, Zobs Palace, Sleep D, India Grace.
The festival is a community event, all ages and free.
